There are few things in life that are quite as memorable as sitting around a campfire enjoying the greatest of all camping traditions: making s’mores! Who would have ever thought that you could improve on perfection? Well here at YMCA CAMP SURF we've done the impossible and created the ultimate fireside treat: The Smordilla!

The Smordilla is Camp Surf's SoCal spin-off of a great American classic that brings together all the same ingredients, plus a few extra goodies, to create a fresh experience. In addition to the classic chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers you will also need small flour tortillas and peanut butter. If you’re feeling really adventurous you may even decide to throw in some extra munchies such as banana slices or granola!

By now you are probably wondering how in the world we piece together this sweet masterpiece! Well, it's simple really! You'll begin with a tortilla (typically flour) and then start to add desired ingredients; since the s’mordilla is folded in half it is wise to apply toppings to only one side. Another "Pro-Tip" is to create a nice layer of peanut butter across your tortilla in order to seal in the goodness and give everything something to stick to! Once you've piled on all of your delectable ingredients you will carefully fold the creation in half and wrap it in aluminum foil making sure to tightly seal the edges. All that's left to do is set it down on a bed of coals and let cook for 5-6 minutes (3 minutes on each side) or until the choco/mallow mix is perfectly melted! The hardest part of this whole experience is sure to be the 2-3 minutes needed to cool your creation before sinking your teeth into the crispy tortilla and oozing chocolaty center!
