CHILD CARE COMMUNITY UPDATE: Licensing FAQs
Community Care Licensing (CCL) has created an FAQ document that helps explain new guidelines around cleaning, closures, protective equipment and sanitation procedures, prevention strategies, physical distancing, resources for families, and waivers. The information addresses common questions in a centralized way, and CCL will update the document as new information becomes available to reflect the evolving situation and any questions from child care providers.

County of San Diego Update
Face Covering Required Beginning May 1
San Diego residents must wear a face covering and continue to keep a distance of 6ft. between themselves and other people any time they leave their homes. Cloth facial coverings don’t have to be medical grade but should cover your nose and mouth. Homemade masks, bandanas, and scarves are acceptable and may be washed and reused. These practices will help prevent the spread of COVD-19.

Enhanced Child Care Referrals for Essential Service Workers
If you or someone you know works in the Essential Critical Infrastructure, we are offering enhanced referral services. This includes a specialized search within our database of licensed family child care homes and centers. Call us directly at 619-952-0242 and one of our advisors will work with you to locate a provider that matches your family’s immediate needs. Advisors are available Monday - Friday from 8:00AM - 5:00PM
If the phone line is busy, please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible. Our phone line is staffed at all times and this is a dedicated line for health care professionals. Alternately, you can call our general referral line at 1-800-481-2151 and receive the same level of support.

Important Notice For Families Receiving subsidized child care: All Family Fees for April, May and June will be waived.
On March 26, 2020, the California Department of Education (CDE), Early Learning and Care Division issued instructions waiving family fees until June 30, 2020.
- Effective April 1 through June 30, 2020 families will NOT have to pay assigned Family Fees
- Provider will be paid the full amount and will not have the Family Feededucted from their payment
- This waiver applies to all state-subsidized early learning and care programs
- Fees paid in March will not be credited or refunded
- This waiver applies to the monthly fee that is based on your family income; Co-pays or additional fees collected by provider are not adjusted by this waiver
- Family fees will resume July 1, 2020, in accordance with the parent's most recent certification or recertification

The California Department of Education (CDE) and County of San Diego has released emergency guidance for Alternative Payment Programs, Foster Bridge Program, and Stage 1 on reimbursement policies during the current COVID-19 state emergency.

For Child Care Professionals: Updates from The California Department of Education
The California Department of Education (CDE) understands that the field needs answers about how closures will impact payments from the State and other rules around subsidized care. CDE is currently drafting answers to these questions. We will continue to keep you posted with answers.
For Child Care Professionals: Other Updates
If you are planning on closing, please call us at 1-800-481-2151 so we can update our availability list. We will be providing enhanced referrals for all families that are needing care.
Effective immediately, all child care provider workshops, trainings, or other gatherings where participants will be in small spaces are canceled. This will be in effect until the end of March, and possibly longer, depending on public health guidance. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause you. We will make every attempt to reschedule the postponed events as soon as it is safe to do so.
