Empowering All Young Athletes
Girls Sports at the YMCA
At the Y, we're committed to nurturing the potential of every child, and our girl sports programs are a shining example of that mission. Our sister organization, the YWCA, has a rich history dating back to the 19th century, championing women's rights and supporting girls in their physical, mental and social development. Today, the YMCA carries on this legacy with opportunities for everybody to engage in activities, like sports, that foster community, teamwork and leadership while promoting overall health and well-being. We’re proud to offer a variety of sports leagues and clinics designed specifically for girls at several of our branch locations. At Mission Valley YMCA and T. Claude & Gladys B. Ryan Family YMCA, girls volleyball leagues provide a fun, supportive and competitive environment. Mission Valley YMCA and Jackie Robinson Family YMCA host girls basketball leagues, and Jackie Robinson Family YMCA helps girls improve their skills through basketball clinics.
The Y's progress and competitive gymnastics programming provides an opportunity for young girls to explore and excel in this challenging and rewarding discipline. Young athletes improve their physical abilities, such as flexibility, strength and coordination, while cultivating valuable life skills like focus, discipline and goal-setting.
All Y sports programs foster a supportive environment where girls can challenge themselves, celebrate their successes and grow both as individuals and as part of a team. Whether aiming for personal fitness goals or dreaming of competition, the YMCA provides a nurturing space for girls to explore their potential and thrive.
At the YMCA, we're dedicated to ensuring girls have equal opportunities to engage in healthy, active lifestyles and reach their full potential, both on and off the field, court or gym. Find the sport you love and get in the game to take your skills to the next level!
