HEALTH & SAFETY
Our top priority is the health and safety of our campers, their families, our staff and the community. We are working closely with local health officials, the American Camp Association and the CDC to ensure all recommended safety measures are met.
While the COVID-19 virus is challenging us to make camp look different this year, you’ll find the same high-quality camp experience you’ve come to expect from the Y.
Water Quality
Due to the nature of our program and its proximity to the Tijuana River Mouth, we regularly check local resources before beginning any water activities. This includes the Department of Environmental Health Water Monitoring site, UCSD plume tracker, the Imperial Beach Lifeguard Service, and others. If the water is closed, either based on data from authorities or precaution on the part of YMCA staff, there are many other activities that take place outside of the water that are part of a fun Camp Surf experience. Archery, crafts, climbing tower, bouldering wall, Gaga, beach volleyball, sand sculpting, group games and more are ready and waiting for our campers.

Interest Lists
When a day camp session is full, you may add your child to a waitlist/interest — choose "Join Waitlist" during the registration process when signing up online. We’ll provide a weekly update via email that lists all day camps with new availability. Registration is first come, first served, via telephone, online or at the branch. We recommend that families check the website often, as other spaces may become available prior to email communications going out.
Giving Back
For every session of camp, the Y provides program scholarships for families seeking financial assistance. This is made possible through the generosity of our community. If you wish to help a child go to camp, please see our Camp Director for information.
Feedback
We love to hear from our campers and parents! Camp leadership teams use your feedback to make positive changes to our program. Please feel free to contact our Camp Director, Payton Schoonmaker at [email protected], with any questions, comments or concerns!
