The YMCA of San Diego County's enrichment programming provides a safe environment where children will engage in imaginative play and activities that stretch both mind and body, including physical education, creative arts, science, cooking, swimming and more. Utilizing both indoor and outdoor spaces, students will follow all guidelines for health and safety.

Pick-Up/Drop-Off Information

Pick-up for classes is at 5:00pm from Dan McKinney Family YMCA. Pick Up locations will vary as we utilize the following rooms and spaces for our classes: Studio D, Outdoor Courts, Rec Field, CR1, CR2, Adventure Center, Studio C, and our Teaching Kitchen.

About Our Staff

Dan McKinney Family YMCA takes pride in hiring the best people to fill our programming staff. Each leader was hand-selected through an extensive hiring process to ensure the safest environment for everyone. Staff training includes CPR and First Aid certification, transportation safety, behavior management and bully prevention, child protection and abuse prevention, field trip and off-site safety procedures, risk management/prevention and more.

STEM EXPLORERS

Join us as we explore science, technology, engineering and math through fun, hands-on, interactive activities. Kids will play and explore with different mediums, such as LEGOs®, playdough and more.

KIDS CREATE

Grades: 1–5 | Day: Monday | SEARCH CODE: FPKC28
Through various mediums, this art series gives kids the opportunity develop their creative expression. Drawing, painting and craft projects will encourage their imaginations to flourish and inspire self-confidence and individuality. Each class provides a different theme and activity.

ALL STAR SPORTS

All Star Sports Class is designed specifically for children in 1st – 5th grade. Our program offers a dynamic and engaging sports experience, focusing on skill development, teamwork and fostering a love for sports. Whether your child is a beginner or has previous sports experience, our classes cater to all skill levels within this age range.

LITTLE CHEFS

This hands-on cooking series is the perfect introduction to cooking for kids in UTK & Kindergarten. Experience a blend of education, nutrition and fun with new recipes each week. Practice age-appropriate cooking techniques, fundamental kitchen skills and kitchen safety. Get your little chef involved in making their own meals.

FULL STEAM AHEAD!

This series helps engage kids in 1st-5th grade in science, technology, engineering, art and math with hands-on, interactive activities. Kids have so much fun, they do not realize they are learning.

CLIMBING

Our Climbing program offers a thrilling and safe rock-climbing experience, focusing on skill development, confidence building, and a sense of adventure for kids in 1st-5th grade. Whether your child is a beginner or has previous climbing experience, our classes cater to all skill levels within this age range.

HALF DAY ENRICHMENT

Your child will enjoy a variety of themed activities such as STEAM, cooking, art, music & movement, sports & games, fitness and architecture throughout the month. Children will be broken into groups according to age. Snack will be provided.

MOVE & DANCE

Get ready to dance, shout and laugh to different styles of music! Move to the beat, cheer each other on and explore different ways to move and have fun! These classes are designed for youth (Grades: 1–5).

Financial Assistance

Financial assistance is available to families who qualify. Applications are available at the service desk and online. Assistance is based on verified income and completed applications.
