At the Y, we are dedicated to strengthening the foundations of our community. In order to do that, we need an understanding of who we are as a nation. This is what the United States Census provides.
The next Census is in Spring 2020! The Y is part of Count Me 2020, a coalition of 100 community organizations working to ensure a complete and accurate 2020 Census count in San Diego and Imperial counties. We want to make sure San Diegans are counted so we can put those resources to good use here at home!
What is the Census and why does it matter?
The Census determines how federal funding is given out to our communities. Over $1.5 trillion annually is distributed for programs that support our communities and benefit all Americans. Every person who gets counted brings $1250 to California!
Census information is used to:
- Build Better roads and schools
- Fund community programs for seniors, children, and families
- Create jobs, and
- Improve Housing
When is the Census?
