An Opportunity to Shine a Light on Expanded Learning

Launched in October 2000, Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and their important role in the lives of children, families, and communities. The core objective is to showcase the diverse and enriching opportunities these programs offer to students. From delving into the realms of science and community service to exploring the intricacies of robotics and the beauty of poetry, these programs are instrumental in learning and developing new skills. Each year, the event conveys a resounding message about the critical need for more children to have access to high-quality; afterschool programs, spotlighting the profound impact these initiatives can have in shaping the future of our youth.

Partners in Purpose

Partnerships between schools and afterschool programs play a pivotal role in enhancing the educational journey of students. These collaborations extend a friendly hand to students, offering a continuum of learning and personal growth opportunities beyond the traditional school hours. Afterschool programs complement the day's learning with a mix of academic support, creative activities, and skill-building exercises, all in a more relaxed setting. This not only reinforces what is taught in classrooms but also introduces students to new areas of interest, fostering a love for lifelong learning. Moreover, these programs; provide parents with peace of mind that their child is in a safe productive environment after school. The synergy between schools and afterschool programs is a testament to our commitment to holistic education, ensuring that every child gets the support and opportunities they need to thrive both academically and personally.
