Independence Day - We're Open!

Red, white and blue, and fireworks too! We're open on July 4 with modified facility hours -- our holiday hours are 7:00am - 2:00pm.

SPA IS OPEN

Repairs are complete, and our spa is open. Check our branch page for the schedule, which is modified during youth baseball season.

BECOME A LIFEGUARD AT THE Y

BASKETBALL GYMNASIUM CLOSED

Due to critical maintenance and repairs, the basketball gymnasium is closed until further notice. At this stage, we do not have an estimated repair timeline but will continue to share updates in the coming months. As a reminder, members have full access to other YMCAs across San Diego County, the closest with gymnasiums being Ryan Family YMCA and Mission Valley YMCA.

CHILD WATCH MEMBERSHIP OPTION

New hours: 

  • Morning session: 
    • Monday - Sunday: 8:30am - 1:00pm
  • Afternoon session:
    • Monday and Wednesday: 2:30 - 6:30pm
    • Tuesdays: 2:30 - 6:00pm

Family members can opt to add a Child Watch option to their accounts, which includes unlimited use of the service for $20 monthly. Use your Child Watch benefit at any YMCA that offers the service. While you exercise or relax at the Y, children can play under the supervision of trained YMCA staff. Child Watch is open to children ages 6 weeks to 9 years old!

SAN DIEGO LOYAL SC PARTNERSHIP

The YMCA of San Diego County has partnered with San Diego Loyal SC, our hometown professional soccer team, and Rady Children’s Hospital to strengthen our youth soccer leagues by providing guidance in skill development and coaching, health best practices to help players develop self-confidence, positive relationships and resilience. LIVESTRONG

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA engages cancer survivors through an approach that focuses on the whole person — mind and body. Through this program participants work with trained Y staff to improve cardiovascular endurance and functional ability, build muscle mass and strength, and increase flexibility. In addition to physical benefits, the program also focuses on the mental and emotional well-being of survivors and their families. This creates a supportive community environment where people affected by cancer can connect during treatment and beyond. Get more information online here.

INBODY ASSESSMENTS

InBody body-composition assessments are available by appointment. Get a detailed breakdown of your lean tissue, water and fat mass in just 45 seconds. Now you can leave the guessing behind and know exactly what is inside your body! CHARACTER BUILDERS

Registration for Dan McKinney Family YMCA Character Builders before and/or after school child care is open for the 2022-2023 school year. View all Character Builder site locations and register today.

SUMMER CAMP

The countdown to camp is on! Registration is open for summer day camps at 14 YMCAs and three overnight camps at YMCA Camp Marston, YMCA Raintree Ranch and YMCA Camp Surf. Sign up today to save your spot — many camps are already full.

SWIM TEAM

Our La Jolla Lightning swim team is practicing regularly! If your child would like to get involved, swimmers should be proficient in 100 yards freestyle with rotary breathing, 100-200 IM based on ability, 25-50 yards butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. GYMNASTICS

Jump into fun with gymnastics! Toddlers and teens can grow strong, get confident and find balance in a safe, fun and encouraging environment. Learn more.

GYMNASTICS HALF-DAY FUN

Our Gymnastics Half-Day Fun preschool program is back and we're BEAMing with excitement!

Children ages 3 to 6 will find a safe, fun and encouraging environment for to learn, build confidence and make new friends. Choose from sessions offered from 9:00 to 11:45am, Monday through Thursday. Register now!

PRESCHOOL OPEN GYM

Registration is open for Preschool Open Gym! Every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:00-11:00am, preschool gymnasts can jump, tumble, explore and practice their training outside of class in an unstructured, but supervised setting. Note: Registration opens the day of. Register online.

ADVENTURE GUIDES

Adventure Guides offers a unique experience for parents and their children to enjoy a mix of group activities and outdoor adventures while creating close and enduring relationships. Learn more.

BOOK CLUB

Do you enjoy reading and like to share your thoughts with others? Join us for our YAA Book Club! Learn, read new books, meet new people and exercise your brain. Meets 12:30-2:00pm every second Thursday of the month.

CRAFT CLUB

Learn to crochet, knit and craft! Work on personal projects or join in for group projects. Our first group project will be making beanies for premature newborns in the NICU at the local hospital. No experience necessary, all levels are welcome. Open to members and guests. Meets every other Tuesday from 10:30am to 12:30pm in Community Room 2 beginning Febraury 22.

GAME DAY

Our new Community Game Day is held every Wednesday. Bring a friend and enjoy playing games like bridge, mahjong, Scrabble and more.

  • Game Days are from 11:00am to 1:00pm, Wednesdays, in the member lounge.
  • The meetings are free for everyone; registration not required. Nonmembers should bring a photo ID and will need to complete a waiver (Ages 18+)
  • We'll provide games, coffee and water.

Alzheimer's Association Speaker Series

Join us for an informative series on Alzheimer's disease presented the Alzheimer's Association San Diego/Imperial Chapter. We will meet in room CR2. No registration is required—just show up!

  • July 13: Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia at 10:30am - Learn the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia, Alzheimer’s stages and risk factors, current research and available treatments. Find out how the Alzheimer’s Association can help.
  • August 30: Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body at 12:00pm - Learn what research has shown about lifestyle choices that may help keep your brain and body healthy as you age. Hear practical ways you can incorporate changes into a plan for healthy aging.

BLOOD DRIVE

Did you know you could help save up to three lives by giving blood? The YMCA of San Diego County is hosting blood drives across the county this year. Dan McKinney Family YMCA will host a blood drive on the following days:
