SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The annual Jackie Robinson Family YMCA Gala was originally established to honor the 50th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in baseball.
Since our first event in 1997, the Jackie Robinson Family YMCA has awarded $353,000 to 215 students from southeastern San Diego to help them pursue their dreams of higher education. In addition, the generosity of our inspired patrons has dedicated close to $2,000,000 to program support for kids and families living in San Diego County's most critical community.

The Challenge
The Jackie Robinson Family YMCA serves the southeastern San Diego community, an area experiencing an unparalleled growth that is expected to continue trending upwards for the next 10 to 15 years.
However, our service area is challenged by high drop-out rates, unemployment, and poverty. 37 percent of the households in the community we serve earn less than $25K per year, and there are 52 documented gangs in southeastern San Diego, contributing to high violence and crime and significantly increased suicide rates among teens.
- 10 high school seniors will be awarded college scholarships.
- $86,000 in membership subsidies will be given to more than 1,000 families in need.
- 2,000 children involved in youth sports will receive nearly $40,000 in program subsidy over four seasons.
- Over 2,600 children will be able to attend summer day camp on a sliding scale.

The Number 42
"Sixty one years I’ve been in baseball. I’ve played and worked with some of the all-time legends, like Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, and Dave Winfield.
Right near the top of that list was Jackie Robinson, who not only broke records, he shattered the barriers. He not only made a big difference in the game, he forever changed baseball. Jackie led, so that players like Satchel Paige, Willie Mays, and Hank Aaron could follow.
But Jackie’s contribution shouldn’t be measured on his batting average. It’s much bigger than that. Jackie wanted to make a difference in the lives of at- risk kids - with mentoring programs and scholarships for deserving youth.
Join me as we fight that good fight — to give a better future to our kids. When it comes to our kids, we all have to pitch in."
