Partnerships With the YMCA of San Diego County

A group of children playing at the YMCAFor 140 years the YMCA of San Diego County has been dedicated to strengthening the foundations of our communities through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. The YMCA has the collective capacity and strength of our Y Movement to achieve our goals, and we know progress is only possible if we work together within our communities.

Together, we are committed to giving young people the resources to reach their potential, providing individuals with the access and support to lead healthy lives and connecting neighbors so they can come together for the common good.

With deep gratitude, we recognize and acknowledge our partners for their continued dedication and support of the Y’s mission, programs and services throughout San Diego County.

The YMCA and the San Diego Seals understand that it is important for kids to have a variety of opportunities to learn new skills, challenge themselves and make connections with others. The YMCA and San Diego Seals partnership will create opportunity and access for any child or teen who wants to participate in the exciting sport of lacrosse through our weekly YMCA Jr. Seals lacrosse clinics, located at 7 YMCA branches across San Diego County. We are excited to have the San Diego Seals professional lacrosse team train our Y coaches to put on high quality clinics that focus on building self-esteem, friendships and lifting up kids, emotionally and physically, through activities in which they can grow, learn and thrive in their local communities.3

Challenged Athletes Foundation

Challenged Athletes Foundation logoWith a shared a commitment to improving the lives of others and making a difference in our community, the YMCA of San Diego County is pleased to partner with the Challenged Athletes Foundation® (CAF). Since February 2013, more than 1,200 San Diego-based physically challenged athletes and their immediate families have received a complimentary lifetime Y membership. Established in 1997, CAF grew out of a desire to assist one athlete paralyzed in a triathlon. From this modest beginning arose a more important mission to make sure people with physical challenges have the same freedom to enjoy sports as everyone else. All San Diego County CAF athletes are encouraged to visit their local Y branch to sign up for their free, life-long, family membership.
