HEALTHY KIDS DAY — APRIL 20

Celebrate Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 20 — where fun and play become lifelong memories! This free event is open to the public and part of the Y's national initiative to promote active minds and healthy bodies. We stand with families in their efforts to teach healthy habits and keep kids active and learning, preparing them for a brighter future. CHILD WATCH

Y Community Plus members with family memberships have unlimited access to Child Watch services at 12 YMCA branch locations across San Diego County. With easy reservations through the YMCA app, you can focus on your fitness or unwind at the Y while your children play under the supervision of highly trained YMCA staff. Not yet a Y Community Plus member? Current Y members can upgrade to the Y Community Plus membership plan by stopping by any location. If you currently have Child Watch services as an add-on to your family membership, you may continue to use Child Watch services on a drop-in basis. Learn more here.

If you've been thinking about hiring a personal trainer, April is a great month to get started! Through the month of April, you can get 5 one-on-one sessions for $249 or 10 for $479! That's up to $71 in savings!

Our personal trainers use their extensive knowledge of current exercise research concepts, methods of sound exercise principles and state-of-the-art equipment to guide you to your fitness goals. YMCA trainers are accredited through the National Commission of Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or have a degree in exercise science (or a related field). Based on your health and individual needs, our personal trainers will customize and implement a program to help you achieve your goals.

Members can purchase packages online — Click here to find packages by logging into your My Y account, select your branch and click "Personal Training Punch Pass" from the options. Please note that discounts will apply at checkout. You may also purchase in-person by visiting us at the branch! Once you've purchased a package, a branch fitness coach will contact you to discuss your goals and connect you with a trainer.

Swim lessons are available for licensed preschool students. Interested in having your toddler get an early start in the water? Our licensed aquatics instructors will guide your little one as they learn water safety and basic swimming skills. SWIM LESSONS

Make a splash this month! A great way to grow in confidence and learn the skills of water safety, swim lessons are available monthly for group, private, semi-private, parent/child and preschool-ages on Saturdays and weekdays. SPLASH BALL

Learn the exciting game of water polo in the encouraging YMCA environment. Clinics take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-6:30pm.  Sessions are April 2-30 and May 2-30. For more information, contact Melissa Rodriguez at [email protected]

SWIM CLINICS

Dive into summer with fun, engaging swim clinics! These clinics will provide instruction from encouraging coaches and the opportunity to improve your swim skills! Clinics will begin in spring and continue through summer. Registration coming soon!

DIVE INTO SWIM TEAM

Dive into swim team! Swim team  are available for Novice level swimmers and Intermediate/Advanced (Bronze). Swim team takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with tryouts 4:00pm-4:15pm (by appointment only) and practices at 4:30pm. To tryout, swimmers should be proficient in 50 yards freestyle, 50 yards backstroke and 25 yards breastroke and butterfly. EXTENDED LEARNING ACADEMY AT BELLA MENTE

The Extended Learning Academy is one of several state-funded Expanded Learning Programs (ELP) that provides free before and after school care for qualifying families at Bella Mente. Learn more.

PARENT SUPPORT GROUPS

Parent Support Groups play a key role in inspiring and guiding parents through the development of their children and taking care of older adults. Our YMCA is creating a safe environment for members to come together to share in their trials, efforts and solutions. A support group can be a great way to check in with others and get advice, share your feelings, and build a support network. Please come and join us!

No registration is required for these monthly meetings. Join a Parent Support Group with others who have dependents in similar life stages. Contact Susie Ferrer at [email protected] for more information.

  • BOOK CLUB — Thursday, April 4 | 9:00am: Hosted in the break room. Book of the month is "The Art of Racing in the Rain". 
  • Craft Club — Tuesday, April 16 | 1:00pm:  Learn to make a gorgeous Spring decorations. Ask Alexis or Gail for supply list (inexpensive). Located in Studio A.

  • Produce Good Informational Table — Tuesday, April 9, 11:00am–12:00pm: Volunteer opportunity to work with this incredible nonprofit organization. The main focus of this group is to build a countywide system to recover and upcycle edible organics to reduce waste and hunger. Groups will meet to pick fruits and vegetables from farmers and growers and distribute to community members in need. Located at Joe & Mary Mottino Family YMCA in the main hallway.
  • New YAA Member Orientation (55+) — Tuesday, April 16, 12:30pm: Meet with Alexis Kramer, YAA Coordinator. Ask about our fitness classes, activities, and events for our 55+ members.   • Piano Recital — Sunday, April 21, 3:00pm: Experience an afternoon of piano dues with Duo Nova performing on the two grand pianos of the Concert Hall Stage.   • Personal Training Tips: Do you have questions about our machines or equipment in the Fitness Center? Do you have a general question about an injury and need advice about what to do? Our friendly trainers and they will be glad to meet with you. They can show you specific exercises or set up a program for you. Look for staff wearing a black personal trainer shirt.
