POOLS ARE OPEN!

pool Dan McKinney

Several of our YMCA aquatic centers are now open to active members for lap lane, shallow zone, family swim and splash pad reservations.

We know that swimming plays an important role in supporting a healthy lifestyle. The Y has always been a place for families to swim and to develop a lifelong passion for water. We’re excited to offer our active members access to pools across San Diego. Because the safety of our members, staff and community remains our top priority, access to our aquatic centers are reservation only.

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED

Reservations can be made up to eight days in advance. To make a reservation, simply log into your My Y Account and select available aquatic center locations to view availability. Our system will only show you available times for the next eight days. A maximum of 45-minute reservations can be made for lap lanes, shallow zone, family swim areas and splash pads.

EXPANDED POOL CAPACITY

We are expanding the capacity of reservations in our pools by allowing two swimmers per lane starting April 19. This change will allow more availability and is made possible by the county's progression to less-restrictive tiers for reopening. We are delighted to provide additional opportunities for swimmers to enjoy our popular pools.

When making a reservation, you will choose a split or single lane (some lanes will remain designated for individual swimmers). The new reservation slots will be available on April 11 for reservations that occur the week of April 19. To learn more about this change and its policies, click here.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Reservations:

  • Members 12 and up can reserve a lap lane, shallow zone, family zones and splash pads for up to 45 minutes.
  • 12-year old members must be able to swim independently at least 100 yards in deep water without stopping or resting at the wall to reserve a lap lane or shallow zone.
  • Members 11 and under are not permitted to reserve a lap lane or shallow zone unless they’re a participant in a YMCA Swim Team and can demonstrate independent swimming for the entire length of the pool without stopping or resting at the wall. Supervision by a parent or guardian at pool-deck is required at all times.
  • Lap lanes and shallow zones can be shared with one additional member from the same household. Members 11 and under may share your lane only if they’re on YMCA Swim Team and can demonstrate independent swimming ability for the entire length of the pool without stopping or resting at the wall.
  • Shallow zones can be reserved for water walking or aerobics only.
  • Lanes are assigned upon arrival on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Reservations are for a time slot, not a specific lane.
  • Members may reserve only one time slot per day.
  • A fee of $12 will be charged to no-shows.
  • If arriving more than 10 minutes late, your reservation may be forfeited, and a no-show fee may be applied.
  • Reservations can be changed/cancelled up to three hours before your start time by using the links in your reservation confirmation email or by logging into your My Y account.

Split Lap Lane Reservations:

  • Lanes accommodate a maximum of two people. Each reservation is for a maximum of one person.
  • Reserving a split lap lane means you agree to split a lane with another member who may not be within your household/family.
  • When checking in, you will be directed to begin at opposite ends of the pool.
  • Lap swim and water walking will be allowed. Please be aware that you may be sharing a lane with a lap swimmer and a water exercise member.
  • When facing the pool, enter and stay on the right side of the lane at all times.
  • Swimmers must be continuously lap swimming or maintaining a minimum of 6 feet distance from the other swimmer in the lane. Stop only on the side of the pool from which you entered.
  • Choose a split lap lane reservation if you wish to share a lane with another member who is not in your household/family.
  • Family members may occupy the same lane, but both members must book reservations.
  • Choose a single lap lane reservation if you wish to reserve the lane for one person or two people from the same household.
  • If you want to reserve a separate swim space for a household member who will not be sharing your lane, please make sure to update their name in the reservation — otherwise it will be interpreted as a duplicate and will be canceled.

Family Swim Zones and Splash Pads:

  • Family Swim Zones and Splash Pads are available for reservations of up to 45 minutes in the same household. A household is defined as a group of individuals who live together.
  • The maximum household size is six, and adults must be YMCA members.
  • An adult YMCA member must be with the household group at all times.

Safety:

  • Staff are required to wear face coverings at all times indoors and outside.
  • Members must wear a face covering while entering the facility, in the locker rooms, and while waiting on deck for reservations. Face coverings may be removed while on deck if six feet of social distancing can be maintained.
  • Maintain at least six feet of social distancing as much as possible. Household groups enjoying our Family Swim Zones and Splash Pads must also maintain at least six feet of social distancing from other household groups.
  • Retractable roof, windows and doors will remain open at our covered Aquatic Centers to maintain proper air flow.
  • Pull buoys, kick boards and life jackets are available to use during your swim time. These items will be disinfected before and after each use.
