Play Soccer at the YMCA of San Diego County
Soccer is one of the most beloved and widely played sports on the planet! Whether it’s a recreational soccer game between coworkers, a competitive soccer league, or a soccer clinic for beginners lead by an experienced coach, soccer is a great way to stay healthy and make friends for all ages. San Diego Loyal SC, the Y's official youth soccer technical partner, will provide direction and guidance to our volunteer coaches, co-branded team jerseys and at least one player appearance on a Saturday game day (pending player availability). As the mental health partner for San Diego Loyal, Rady Children’s Hospital will provide resources to our players on self-confidence, positive relationships and resilience. Learn about the partnership and view leagues here.
Playing soccer provides many health benefits, including:
- Improved cardiovascular health for the entire body
- Increased strength
- Enhanced endurance to play at a higher level for longer stretches of time
- Better hand-eye (and foot-eye!) coordination
No matter how it’s played, one of soccer’s most important benefits is social interaction. As a team sport, soccer provides an opportunity for people to work together as a team and forge close relationships. It also provides youth a chance to learn how to interact with compassion and sportsmanship in a healthy environment.
For these reasons, soccer is a fun, popular way to get fit and stay healthy!
