Summerbridge provides a worthwhile five-week teaching experience without a teaching credential. Instructors will be responsible for a classroom of 10 students ranging from 9 to 15 years of age and will create a daily curriculum with the guidance of academic coaches in every step.

FAQs

How do I register?
Register through our Community Portal here. Enter "ENRICHMENT" in the keyword search to find registration infromation. We can serve 75 students this year. It will be first come, first served, so please do not wait.

Where will Summerbridge be located?
Thanks to our wonderful partnership with Urban Discovery Academy downtown, the YMCA will be hosting Summerbridge for five weeks at UDA. The location of the school is 840 14th St. San Diego, CA 92101 — get directions.

Will there be transportation provided?
Yes. We realize that parking may be somewhat difficult downtown and will provide a bus for student transportation. Depending on the applicants accepted, the bus will be taking students from a designated school pick-up/drop off location (Mission Valley YMCA) to Urban Discovery Academy downtown.

It is very important that you include your current contact information (email and phone number) so that we can reach out and meet necessary transportation needs if necessary. We will also need your child’s shirt size for field trips on Fridays.

Please email Margaret Giuffre, [email protected], with all required information (email, phone number and child(ren) shirt size) once you have been accepted.

When will we find out if our student was selected?
It will be first come first serve. Please see the link above and select "enrichment" under keyword.

What school does my student have to go to apply?
We prioritize registrations from SDUSD schools. Applicants from other districts will still be considered.

During what dates does Summerbridge take place? If my student misses a few days of the program for a vacation can I still apply?
Our program runs from Monday, June 26 to Friday, July 28 and will be closed July 4 for the holiday. Because our program is only five weeks long, missing a single week results in missing out on 20 percent of the content. Since spots for this program are limited, we recommend you refrain from applying to allow someone else who will not miss days to attend.
