Oz San Diego Teletherapy for Family & Teen Wellness
Our Oz San Diego facility is currently closed due to COVID-19 regulations. If you would like more information and updates please contact our intake coordinator at 858-270-8213, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Note: We have adapted our CARF-accredited Oz San Diego Residential Treatment model to meet the needs of the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
While so much has changed for individuals and families in such a short amount of time, caring for the emotional well-being of local families and teens, ages 12-17, remains our top priority. We are offering flexible, therapeutic teletherapy for youth and their families that is built on our flagship Oz San Diego program, currently celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Who We Serve
Our teletherapy program is appropriate for teens who would benefit from outpatient therapy, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), or Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP). Teens with more serious mental health or substance use concerns should seek services that provide the full-time monitoring and support of a psychiatric hospital at Sharp Mesa Vista, Aurora Behavioral Health, and Rady Children’s Hospital.
Oz San Diego provides individualized, strengths-based therapy using a model that simultaneously supports teens and their families. Families participate in guided family therapy sessions, and teens meet with their therapist individually in tele-therapy sessions to encourage growth and healing for the whole family unit.
Our Oz treatment teams help families:
- Identify family strengths & resilience.
- Adjust to school closures and distance learning strategies.
- Work from home and balance new parenting roles.
- Manage anxiety and fear about health and safety concerns.
- Navigate a new diagnosis.
- Adapt parenting skills for the developmental needs of adolescence.
- Build self-regulation skills.
- Manage the school-day schedule and consolidate activities for an effective distance learning experience.
Example of Our Weekly Schedule
“Staff was always courteous and kind. They went out of their way for me and my daughter. My daughter was well supervised at all times and is much more engaged in life at discharge than she was at placement. My daughter is smiling, laughing, talking and participating in life! Thank you, thank you, thank you!”— Testimonial from an Oz Parent
What is Teletherapy?
With our current public health crisis and the need for physical distancing and stay-at-home orders, teens have many opportunities to experience the benefits of connecting virtually with their peers and qualified mental health therapists.
Teletherapy is the online delivery of therapeutic services in a live video-conferencing format. Teletherapy has been around for many years and is an alternative format for a therapist and client to work together. It can be as effective as in-person therapy, and sometimes has advantages over traditional face-to-face sessions. The sessions are confidential and comply with HIPAA requirements to protect your personal health information.
Fees are based on a sliding scale and will be assessed at intake. Cost should not be the reason families cannot get the support they need to thrive. Like our residential program, our teletherapy program offers a sliding scale fee for service. We work with families to identify an affordable payment plan. Families who are able to pay the full fee will expand access to these important for families who may require sliding scale arrangements.
