Jamie Cosson
Executive Director of Overnight Camp
Jamie Cosson is the regional executive director of YMCA of San Diego Overnight Camps, a role he has held since 2022. He has worked in overnight camping since 1993, beginning his camp career as an international camp counselor from Australia. He served as a camp counselor, lifeguard and program director at YMCA Camp Cosby in Alabama from 1993 to 2002 and as executive director of YMCA Camp Weaver in North Carolina from 2003 to 2022.

He holds a degree in recreation from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia.
Jamie is passionate about building connections and community through camp and creating meaningful experiences for youth. He enjoys camping, dirt bike riding, boating, fishing, surfing and watching his children play sports. He is married to Stacy, a teacher and camp supporter, and has two children, Isabella, 12, and William, 7, who both love camp. He has 33 years of experience in camping.
Sandra Flores
Department Head
Sandra Flores serves as department head for the YMCA Overnight Camping Branch, bringing more than 20 years of service to the YMCA of San Diego County. Her work with the organization includes supporting the South Bay, Eastlake and Border View Family YMCAs in member services and development, with most of her tenure focused on Overnight Camp. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from National University.

Sandra oversees the branch’s finance, administration and camp stores across three camping locations. Having experienced the impact of sixth-grade camp at YMCA Camp Marston as a child, she is committed to creating similar opportunities for youth in her community. Don’t be surprised if she strikes up a conversation when she sees someone wearing a camp T-shirt or hat around town.
When she is not supporting the camps, she enjoys cooking, exploring new restaurants and spending time with her family.
Sharnaye Machuca
Program director
Sharnaye is a program director for YMCA overnight camps at Camp Marston and Raintree Ranch. Originally from Australia, she started working at camp in summer 2022 as a wrangler at Raintree Ranch on a J-1 visa. She returned full time in January 2023 to work as the farm and garden coordinator. She later served as head wrangler during the summer before becoming a program director in early 2024.

In late 2025, she took on the role of program director for both Camp Marston and Raintree Ranch.
This is her fifth year at camp. Sharnaye is excited to see camp grow and meet the new children who come through the program. She is also eager to see the traditions everyone knows and loves upheld.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs, two cats and two horses. She also enjoys crafts such as painting, crocheting and drawing, and loves riding her horses.
Payton Schoonmaker
Program director
Payton Schoonmaker is a program director for YMCA of San Diego County Overnight Camps. He holds a Bachelor of Science in economics and is originally from Salem, Oregon. Schoonmaker grew up as a camper at YMCA Camp Silver Creek in Oregon and participated in other local YMCA programs.

He began working at Camp Surf in 2011, serving as a counselor, unit leader and coordinator. He later led the teen program aboard a Carnival cruise ship before directing YMCA day camps in Chula Vista and Kearny Mesa, where he became a respected leader in the field.
Schoonmaker is excited to help lead overnight and day camp programs focused on fun and impactful experiences for youth. In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling. He has spent 15 summers working in San Diego camps and was also a camper for five years.
Charles Delong
Regional Facilities director
Charles “Chuck” is the regional facilities director for YMCA Overnight Camps in San Diego. He began his involvement with camp more than 20 years ago, volunteering with weekend camps for foster youth through an ILS program.

He has worked at camps as a facilities director for the past 3 1/2 years, helping maintain spaces where campers and staff can thrive. Chuck is passionate about continuing to make camps a fun and safe environment for children to be children.
In his free time, he enjoys spending as much time as he can with his family and grandchildren.
Rich Krudner
Associate Executive Director
Rich Krudner has worked in environmental education full time since 2011 and has experience at Frost Valley YMCA and Camp Jewell. He joined YMCA of San Diego County Overnight Camps in July 2018 and is passionate about getting youth from San Diego County outdoors.

Zachary Evans
Waterfront & Weekend Director
Zach Evans is the waterfront and weekend director for YMCA Overnight Camps at Camp Surf and is originally from Norfolk, Virginia. He began his career as a lifeguard with the YMCA of South Hampton Roads from 2014 to 2022 before joining Camp Surf in support of outdoor education programs and overnight camps. After a year away working as a physical education teacher, he returned in June 2023 to his current role.

Zach is focused on keeping campers and guests safe while having fun in the water and creating a positive waterfront experience. In his free time, he enjoys surfing and being outdoors, especially living in Imperial Beach and spending time near the ocean.
Joseph Breedlove
Food Service Director
“Chef Joe” is the food service director for YMCA Overnight Camps and is from South San Diego, where he was born and raised. He began working at camp in the spring of 2005 in a temporary chef role and has remained with the organization for approximately 21 years. He leads food service operations and supports culinary programming, including cooking camps and special events.

He looks forward to continuing to grow camp culinary programs and takes pride in providing meals that support the camper experience. Joe enjoys road trips and live music with his wife and getting to as many shows as possible. He also enjoys gardening and getting his hands in the dirt!
Lynda Taylor
Food Service Director
Lynda is the food service director for YMCA Camp Marston and Raintree Ranch. She began working at camp in summer 2022 and is originally from Alpine, California. She has been part of the camp team since 2022.

Lynda leads camp food service operations and helps create positive dining experiences for campers and staff. She values being part of a team that is always working to improve both the camp and guest experience.
She describes serving food as her “love language” and says being part of the YMCA story is a meaningful way to finish her career. She enjoys raising chickens and gardening and finds joy in having her hands in the dirt and caring for animals.
Ian Mccrohan
Outdoor Program Director
Ian is the outdoor education program director for YMCA Camp Marston and Raintree Ranch. He is originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He attended YMCA Camp Ockanickon in Medford, New Jersey, from 2002 to 2009 and joined the staff in 2010. He worked there from 2010 to 2015, at Camp Jewell YMCA in 2015 and at YMCA Camp Marston from 2016 to 2020 and again since 2022.

He began at Camp Marston as an outdoor education program instructor and later served as the Marston summer and weekend program director in 2019. He took a year and a half away to work in the film industry with Marvel Studios before returning in 2022 as outdoor education program director.
Ian enjoys helping students explore nature for the first time and experience time away from the city while discovering the mountains of San Diego County. In his free time, he enjoys live music and spending time with his wife Emma whom he met at camp and their dog, Molly, at Dog Beach or Balboa Park.
Alfredo Haros
Facilities Supervisor
“Fredo” has been working for the Y for nine years, starting in the Maintenance Department as a technician and now serving in the facilities supervisor role at Camp Surf. Born in Ensenada, Baja California, and moving to San Diego at the age of 8, Fredo has always pushed to speak and write proper English as a second language.

Fredo takes great pride in maintaining a safe place for kids and families to come and enjoy everything the Y and Camp Surf have to offer. As a father of two (both campers) he values camp and has experienced the impact of our mission firsthand. In his free time he enjoys camping, off-roading and photography.
