Our Partnership with YMCA of San Diego County

The YMCA of San Diego County and YMCA Tijuana share more than just a border — we share a mission.

This binational partnership brings together two Ys with a deep commitment to youth development, community well-being, and cross-border collaboration. Through joint efforts, we’re expanding access to:

  • Recreational and sports programming
  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Safe transitional housing
  • Future membership access for residents who live in one region and work in the other

Together, we are building a stronger future for families across the U.S.–Mexico border.

Sports Center

For over 30 years, the YMCA Tijuana Sports Center has been a safe, inclusive space where youth and families improve their physical and emotional well-being through sports, recreation, and cultural activities.

Activities by Age Group:

For ages 14+:

This Sports Center continues to be a vital hub in the region, building healthy habits, fostering family connection, and cultivating a strong sense of community and belonging.

Community Center

Founded in 1992, the YMCA Community Development Center in Tijuana was created to support families in the Mariano Matamoros neighborhood — a community once without access to basic services or childcare.

Over the past 32 years, the Center has positively impacted more than 65,000 children, parents, and community members through accessible education, family support, and enrichment programs.

The YMCA Tijuana Community Center offers educational, wellness, and enrichment programs year-round. These include:

  • After-school support
  • Life skills and leadership training
  • Health and wellness workshops
  • Cultural and community-building events

Programs are designed to serve families of all backgrounds with dignity and access.

Featured Programs

Preschool Education (SEP Certified)

A warm, safe, and respectful learning environment for children ages 3–5, where they build emotional, social, and cognitive skills. The focus is on meaningful learning ("learning to learn") in spaces that promote independence and growth

Parent School

Workshops, talks, and small group sessions to help parents strengthen their involvement in their child’s development and build healthy family dynamics.

Summer Camp

With 30+ years of experience, the YMCA Summer Camp offers preschool and elementary-aged children high-quality learning, cultural experiences, and sports — all in a safe and fun environment.

Casa YMCA - Transitional Housing for Migrant Youth

Since 1991, Casa YMCA has served over 75,000 unaccompanied children and adolescents. These youth — often migrants or deported minors — receive:

  • Safe shelter and dignity
  • Emotional and psychosocial support
  • A family-style environment
  • Professional care in health, law, education, and more

100% of Casa YMCA youth have been successfully reunited with family

Binational YMCA Membership (Coming Soon)

We’re working toward a shared membership model — so people who live in Tijuana and work in San Diego (or vice versa) can access YMCA facilities in both locations.
