Kinship Support Services & Respite Care
Support for CAREGIVERS & relatives raising a child of another family member
WHO WE SUPPORT
Kinship Support Services supports kinship caregivers (formal and informal) who are raising the child of another family member. Stepping into caregiving can happen suddenly and bring new challenges. Our program strengthens and stabilizes family support systems so children can remain safely with family and avoid entering or re-entering foster care.
what we offer
case management & system navigation
We provide education and advocacy to help navigate complex systems, including the Child Welfare System (CWS), school system, public assistance and healthcare. We offer in-home visits for support and permanency planning, as well as, information and referrals to further resources in the area.
Support groups
We host regional support groups throughout San Diego County to allow kinship caregivers the opportunity to share their experiences, provide education on resources and receive emotional and moral support from each other. Child care is included on site and support groups are available in English and Spanish.
Respite Care
For kinship caregivers age 55 and older, we offer respite care. Eligible caregivers may receive up to 120 hours of care, including child care, before and after school care, day camp, or overnight camp.
