Tucked away in the mountains of Julian, CA, Raintree Ranch is the horseback riding sister camp to YMCA Camp Marston. Just a short 10-minute walk from Marston, campers enjoy a calm, cozy setting where they can bond with friends—and their horses—while still having access to Marston’s classic camp activities. It’s the perfect blend of horses and traditional overnight camp fun, especially for our young equestrians.
Our quaint ranch-style housing and western themed facilities are the perfect backdrop for an amazing summer experience for your camper. When the horses arrive in May, Raintree blossoms into the greatest horse camp ever!
YMCA Overnight Camps combine the excitement kids love with the meaningful experiences parents value. At YMCA Raintree Ranch in Julian, CA, campers will experience a welcoming, horse-focused community dedicated to horseback riding. With 42 horses, multiple arenas and scenic trails, every rider—from beginner to advanced—finds the perfect place to learn and grow. Along the way, campers build confidence, friendships and memories that last a lifetime through classic camp traditions, laughter and leadership opportunities.
The Pegasus Teen Leadership Program at Raintree Ranch is designed to develop the next generation of camp leaders through progressive, hands-on experience. Open to high school campers, this three-stage program—Camper in Training (CIT), Leader in Training (LIT), and Camp Assistant (CA)—builds leadership, responsibility, and mentoring skills in a supportive camp environment. Participants learn to guide younger campers, assist staff, and gain real-world experience that prepares them for future volunteer and staff roles—all while staying connected to the heart of Raintree Ranch’s horseback tradition.
No matter what skill level your young equestrian is at, the Bolo Program will help them improve! This horsemanship achievement program helps guide our campers through a natural skill progression, learning the key lessons they need to succeed at more advanced levels of horseback riding.
Our campers have the opportunity to earn one bolo each week, with first-time campers starting at the Filly level and then moving up one bolo for each week they attend Raintree Ranch. If our campers are more advanced than their bolo level, it will not affect their riding time, as we separate campers into riding groups appropriate to their skill.
