The Shepherd YMCA Firehouse, a facility of Dan McKinney Family YMCA, is open for classes, programs and events as of January 2024! Special thanks to our members, supporters and community for their patience, commitment and passion for our Y. We are grateful that you are a part of our Y community.

Shepherd YMCA Firehouse is proud to serve La Jolla and the surrounding communities. Dedicated to empowering people to be healthier in spirit, mind and body, the Y believes a strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. As a leading nonprofit organization, the Y offers programs that foster youth development, promote healthy living and advance social responsibility.

Teen Nights At Shepherd Family YMCA

Introducing our Teen Nights hosted by Dan McKinney Family YMCA —an exciting new way for teens to get out there, explore new activities and make new friends. Once a month, the Shepherd Firehouse YMCA transforms into the ultimate hangout spot just for teens. Join us for game and movie nights, holiday festivities and many nights of fun with friends! Ages 12-17. Register today!

Interested in hosting your next event with the Y? Shepard YMCA Firehouse's Engine Room offers a large space that can accomodate your needs. This room can be used for following:

All-Access Membership

Membership at the YMCA includes plenty of opportunities to learn, play and get healthy. That’s because when you join one Y, you join them all! When you enroll at a YMCA near you, your membership will include all the benefits at your home branch with access to the offerings at 15 locations across San Diego County.

Where Health is Wealth

The Shepard YMCA Firehouse offers state-of-the-art group exercise studios.

  • Orientations: Learn your way around the fitness center and group fitness classes. See orientations.

Socialize at the Y: Strengthening Our Community

The Y is a place where you can challenge yourself to learn a new skill or hobby, foster connections with friends through our lifelong learning programs, or bring your loved ones closer together through our many family-centered activities.

Membership and Program Assistance

The YMCA offers financial scholarships to reduce membership and program fees to those that qualify, helping ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

Our scholarship program is based on a sliding fee scale that is designed to fit each family's financial situation, and is available thanks to our generous Annual Campaign donors.
