A Great Place to Learn and Play After School
Welcome to the Joe and Mary Mottino Family YMCA's After School Recreation (Rec) program serving students from Kindergarten to Grade 5.
Our YMCA After School Rec program is a non-custodial program where students will participate in educational assistance, daily physical activities, STEM & literacy programming, along with building life skills & developing healthy relationships. A recreational non-custodial program means that when the kids are in our program, we do not assume custody of them. This means students are allowed to choose not to attend and/or leave the program at any time. We do not check for an authorized pick-up list, and there is no official parent sign-out (we simply keep a roster to keep track of who is in our presence and who is not). The YMCA Rec program operates each day school is in session for 3.5 hours on regular school days and 5 hours on minimum days. Daily homework assistance is provided. Students must be enrolled in the program in order to attend. The YMCA Rec program is Monday-Friday, PM only, and does not operate on days when school is not in session. (Please see our day camp options for weekdays when school is not in session.)
*Our program will continue to be safe as ever, as our staff are highly experienced with the Y’s safety protocols & we continue to make safety our #1 priority*

Once a student leaves our program they must head to a specific, pre-determined destination (i.e. home, sports practice, YMCA program, parent pick-up). Please understand staff cannot confirm this with a child leaving the program. It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure their child is going to a safe location. Additionally, students may not loiter on the school or YMCA grounds after or instead of attending the Rec program. YMCA staff are not responsible for children who are not checked in to the program, nor once they check out of the program.
About Our Staff
YMCA Rec staff are trained to work with children. They are First Aid/CPR certified and have cleared fingerprint and background checks. Students who chose to attend the YMCA Rec program are required to participate in the activities provided that day for as long as they choose to attend the program. Our activities commonly take place in multi-purpose rooms, outside on fields and on our basketball court. There will be daily organized games, arts & crafts and sports clinics.
For children attending Empresa Elementary, YMCA staff will pick up students at the conclusion of their school day and walk them over to Joe and Mary Mottino Family YMCA.
For questions about the program, hours, eligibility, fees, or other administrative issues please email our Childcare Director, Brittany La Mantia at [email protected].
