HOW TO APPLY FOR THE DASH AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM
ENROLLMENT & PARTICIPATION INFORMATION
- All students in grades Transitional Kindergarten (TK) to 6th who attend one of the DASH Schools can apply.
HOW ARE STUDENTS SELECTED?
AIl DASH applications will be reviewed by DASH staff and Chula Vista Elementary School District personnel. Each DASH program has a maximum number of students that are able to be served. Students will be enrolled based on the rating system detailed below, up to the capacity for each school's program. Once the DASH program has reached its capacity, students not accepted for participation will be placed on a wait list and will be accepted as space becomes available.
First priority shall go to pupils who are identified by the program as homeless youth, as defined by the federal McKinney-Vento homeless Assistance Act (42 U.S.C. Sec. 11434a), at the time that they apply for enrollment or at any time during the school year, and to pupils who are identified by the program as being in foster care, English Language Learners and socioeconomically disadvantaged. Second priority for enrollment will be based on the application rating system.
If the program receives more applications than spaces available, first priority for participation will be given to applications with the most points. In cases where a determination must be made between two or more applications with the same points, selection for acceptance will be based on date of submission of the completed applications. For priority enrollment, the attendance policy will be strictly enforced.
DASH ATTENDANCE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Students who are enrolled in DASH must attend 5 days a week for the duration of program hours. Enrolled students who do not attend on a daily basis or for the duration of the program may be dis-enrolled to make room for a student who needs the program. If actual student attendance differs from what a family originally applied for, students may be subject to disenrollment. We understand DASH may not suit everyone's needs; therefore, at many of the schools we also offer a Licensed Childcare Program called Character Builder's.
Please speak with the onsite YMCA Site Supervisor for more information.
DASH APPLICATION SUBMISSION PERIOD: MARCH 17 &MDASH; APRIL 7
Please allow 1-2 weeks after April 7 for results to be posted. The 2023/2024 DASH results will be posted at your student's school site and at the South Bay Family YMCA.
Enrollment Point System:
- FIRST PRIORITY enrollment will go to students who are identified by CVESD as unduplicated students at the time that they apply for enrollment or at any time during the school year. Unduplicated students are determined as either a Foster Youth, McKinney-Vento (Homeless) student, English Language Learner or a socioeconomically disadvantaged student.
- SECOND PRIORITY will be given to applications with the most points based on the DASH Application Rating System below. In the event of a tie in points, the date and time the DASH application was submitted will be used as the tiebreaker.
