A gymnastics journey that grows with you

Welcome to Escondido YMCA – A Campus for Community Well-Being (formerly Palomar Family YMCA) — a place to grow, from your very first class to your final year on the competitive team. Toddlers through teens build strength, confidence and coordination in a supportive, skill-focused environment. Our classes follow USA Gymnastics levels and progressions, so every gymnast has a clear path forward — from that first cartwheel all the way to advanced tumbling and team competition.

Registering for Classes

We have standardized our gymnastics curriculum and classes to support a clear path to advance in our programs. If you’re unsure which class is best for your gymnast, please email dwavrik@ymcasd.org.

PRESCHOOL GYMNASTICS

Accompanied by a caregiver, children learn to be comfortable in a gymnasium setting while setting the stage for a healthy lifestyle. This safe, fun and supportive environment enhances motor development and eye-hand coordination allowing your child to develop both physical and mental skills through various skill-focused rotations and free playtime.

Preschoolers build confidence in this independent class, learning trampoline, bars, beam and floor skills while following a coach’s direction. Obstacle courses, parachutes and songs make skill-focused rotations fun while developing balance, coordination, flexibility and strength. Please note: children must be able to separate from a caregiver for this class.

Older preschoolers build confidence in this independent class. Basic gymnastics skills are learned on trampoline, bars, beam and floor while following a coach’s direction.  They will continue developing balance, coordination, flexibility and strength. Please note: children must be able to separate from a caregiver for this class.

Students will be taught utilizing special equipment to develop strong basics and learn more advanced skills. Conditioning and flexibility are also emphasized in this class.

COMPETITIVE GYMNASTICS

Coach Invite Required

The Junior Olympics program has two distinct competitive programs, compulsory and optional. In compulsory gymnastics, athletes perform the same routines, unique to each event. These routines were chosen by the United States Gymnastics Association to develop a strong foundation in comprehensive gymnastics basics, strength and flexibility. Optional gymnastics is more advanced and allows gymnasts to perform unique routines on each event. The Y offers Junior Olympics gymnasts competition Levels 3 – 10. Participation on the Junior Olympics team is a year-round commitment and all kids must be enrolled in auto-pay for their monthly tuition. Competition fees and uniforms are an additional cost.
