Welcome to Copley-Price Family YMCA gymnastics, where toddlers to teens (and adults, too!) can grow strong, get confident, find balance and jump into fun. Based on the skills, levels and progressions developed by USA Gymnastics, our gymnasts learn in an encouraging atmosphere as they build skills to progress through each level of the program.

RECREATIONAL GYMNASTICS
The Y is the starting point for children to learn about the importance of being active and developing healthy habits they’ll carry through their lives. Gymnastics develops strength, balance and agility. Our goal is to provide a safe, fun and encouraging environment for kids to learn gymnastics, build confidence and make new friends. Depending on the age and skill level of your child, the YMCA offers private, semi-private and group gymnastics programs.
Girls Gymnastics
Girls Beginner | Ages 5-12 Gymnasts learn proper technique, developing a strong foundation and increasing confidence and strength while utilizing equipment such as tumble track, bars, beam, vault, and floor.
Girls Level 1* | Ages 6-12 Gymnasts continue to explore vault, bars, beam, and floor equipment to increase comfort, familiarity, skill, and technique while progressing through level 1.
Girls Level 2* | Ages 6-12 Gymnasts should be able to safely perform all level 1 skills on equipment and floor routines while working to expand technique as well as introducing intermediate strength training techniques.
Girls Level 3* | Ages 6-12 Gymnasts should be able to adequately follow routine and choreography, demonstrating confidence and efficiency on gymnastics equipment and floor exercises in this progressive class while working towards advancing.

Boys Gymnastics
Boys Level 1* | Ages 5-12 Male gymnasts progressing through level 1 continue to explore vault, rings, floor, bars, and p-bars equipment to increase comfort, familiarity, as well as skill and technique.

Teen Gymnastics
Teen | Ages 13-17 Promote a healthy lifestyle in our teen classes for all skill levels to learn proper technique and build strength and flexibility. Gymnasts increase confidence by developing a strong foundation to learn safe skills while utilizing equipment such as tumble track, bars, beam, vault and floor.

PRESCHOOL GYMNASTICS
Our preschool gymnastic classes give your child a fun physical activity in a safe environment. This is a great way to introduce your child to developing fine social, listening, balance and motor skills.
Preschool Gymnastics
Preschool | Ages 3-4 years Preschoolers will increase their confidence transitioning into an independent class and learning new skills on gymnastics equipment including trampoline, bars, beam, and floor. Children must be able to separate from their parents and follow directions from a coach. Obstacle courses, parachutes, songs and other tools are used to develop balance, coordination, flexibility and strength through various skill-focused rotations to enhance motor development and eye-hand coordination.

Parent/Child Gymnastics
Parent/Child | Ages 18 months - 2.9 years Accompanied by a caregiver, children ages 18 months to 2.9 years learn to be comfortable in a gymnasium setting while setting the stage for a healthy lifestyle. This safe, fun and supportive environment enhances motor development and eye-hand coordination allowing your child to develop both physical and mental skills through various skill-focused rotations and free playtime.
Transitional Parent/Child | Ages 18 months - 2.9 years Promote a healthy lifestyle while prepping your gymnast for the transition to a class without the full attention of a caregiver. Basic gymnastic fundamentals and class etiquette are developed through various skill-focused rotations and free playtime to enhance motor development and eye-hand coordination allowing your child to develop both physical and mental skills. Parents are required to stay in the vicinity should your child need one-on-one assistance.

SPECIALTY GYMNASTICS

Gymnastics is a wonderful development tool emphasizing strength, balance and agility. Our goal is to provide a safe, fun, and encouraging environment for kids to learn gymnastics, build confidence, and make new friends. Depending on the age and skill level of your child, the YMCA offers private, semi-private, and group gymnastics programs.
Parkour Beginner | Ages 5-17 Our parkour classes teach skills like vaulting, precision’s, flips, climbing techniques and more. These skills are used together to move through all sorts of environments. Students learn to break down more complex movements and concepts into more simple steps for progress. Not only does this condition the body to adapt, but also trains the mind to look at the physical world in a whole new way.

Little Ninjas Gymnastics
Little Ninjas | Ages 3-5 Designed to match a preschooler's boundless energy, introduce your little ninja to parkour while working on coordination, speed, and balance while enhancing motor development and eye-hand coordination. Rotations on various gymnastic equipment teach children to run, vault, climb, and roll over obstacles.

Tumbling
Tumbling Advanced* | Ages 6-17 Advanced tumbling students work on front tumbling and multiple trick skills and combinations. Tumblers refine their skills while adding multiple back handsprings, back handspring to a back tuck, back handspring to a layout, and a layout full twist. Coach evaluation is required.

Cheer
Cheer | Ages 6-12 Cheerleaders will learn the basic fundamentals of cheer in this non-competitive class. With a focus on arm motions, jumps, stunts, and specific cheer terminology, athletes will gain proper technique and routine sequence while incorporating basic tumbling skills such as rolls, bridges, handstands, and cartwheels. Stretching and conditioning are important components to achieving proper cheer strength and stamina.

COMPETITIVE GYMNASTICS
Our competitive team, the Copley-Price Suns, provides a supportive environment that builds healthy bodies and strong minds. Gymnasts successfully compete against private clubs and YMCAs in San Diego County.
Pre-Team
Coach Invite Required | Ages 6 and up
Pre-Team is the first step in entering competitive gymnastics. They learn routines for all events and compete at our Y-League competitions with other YMCA Pre-Teams. This allows them to gain experience in competitive gymnastics before they enter our Competitive Team! Pre-Team practices 2 days per week, 2 ½ hours per day.

Competitive Team | USAG Junior Olympics
Coach Invite Required | Ages 6 and up The Junior Olympics program has two distinct competitive programs, compulsory and optional. In compulsory gymnastics, athletes perform the same routines, unique to each event. These routines were chosen by the United States Gymnastics Association to develop a strong foundation in comprehensive gymnastics basics, strength and flexibility. Optional gymnastics is more advanced and allows gymnasts to perform unique routines on each event. The Y offers Junior Olympics gymnasts competition Levels 3 – 10. Participation on the Suns is a year-round commitment and all kids must be enrolled in auto-pay for their monthly tuition. Competition fees and uniforms are an additional cost.

OPEN GYM
Open Gym is a time for gymnasts of all ages to jump, tumble, explore and practice their training outside of class. This is a great environment to meet new friends while working on new skills and enjoy the sport of gymnastics.

Parent or caretaker must be within arm’s reach of their child at all times, no adults on equipment. The registration is for the specific day and time listed. Please register under your child’s name. Adults and children must have a waiver form on file.

Adult Open Gym | Ages 12+ This open gym is for teens and adults. Children that are part of the competitive team may be allowed to practice their skills.
