For rising students ages 11-14! YMCA Summerbridge is a five-week, tuition-free summer session that teaches the lessons of a lifetime. This program supports students’ social, emotional and leadership development in a safe and positive environment by focusing on strong mentorship with college/university students. Its mission is to accelerate academic achievement and to prepare youth for college and career opportunities.

“Being a part of the Y Summerbridge family has not only helped me to grow academically but has also helped me excel as a leader in my community.”

FAQs

How do I register?
Register through our Community Portal here. Enter “ENRICHMENT” in the keyword search to find registration infromation. We can serve 75 students this year. It will be first come, first served, so please do not wait.

Where will Summerbridge be located?
Thanks to our wonderful partnership with Urban Discovery Academy downtown, the YMCA will be hosting Summerbridge for five weeks at UDA. The location of the school is 1400 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101 — get directions.

When will we find out if our student was selected?
It will be first come first serve. Please see the link above and select “enrichment” under keyword.

What school does my student have to go to apply?
We prioritize registrations from SDUSD schools. Applicants from other districts will still be considered.

During what dates does Summerbridge take place? If my student misses a few days of the program for a vacation can I still apply?

Our program runs from Monday, June 9 to Friday, July 11 and will be closed July 4 for the holiday. Because our program is only five weeks long, missing a single week results in missing out on 20 percent of the content. Since spots for this program are limited, we recommend you refrain from applying to allow someone else who will not miss days to attend.
