DASH AT ARROYO VISTA CHARTER SCHOOL
What is DASH?
DASH is an enrichment and recreational after-school program that is funded by Arroyo Vista Charter School and operated by the South Bay Family YMCA.
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE DASH AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM
ENROLLMENT & PARTICIPATION INFORMATION
- All students in grades Transitional Kindergarten (TK) to 6th who attend one of the participating schools can apply.
HOW ARE STUDENTS SELECTED?
AIl DASH applications will be reviewed by DASH staff and Arroyo Vista Charter School personnel. Each DASH program has a maximum number of students that can be served. Students will be enrolled based on the rating system detailed below, up to the capacity for each school’s program. Once the DASH program has reached its capacity, students not accepted for participation will be placed on a waitlist and will be accepted as space becomes available.
First priority shall go to pupils who are identified by the program as homeless youth, as defined by the federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act (42 U.S.C. Sec. 11434a), at the time that they apply for enrollment or at any time during the school year, and to pupils who are identified by the program as being in foster care, English Language Learners and socioeconomically disadvantaged. Second priority for enrollment will be based on date and time of submission of the completed application. For priority enrollment, the attendance policy will be strictly enforced.
DASH ATTENDANCE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Students who are enrolled in DASH must attend 5 days a week for the duration of program hours. Enrolled students who do not attend on a daily basis or for the duration of the program may be dis-enrolled to make room for a student who needs the program. If actual student attendance differs from what a family originally applied for, students may be subject to unenrollment. We understand DASH may not suit everyone’s needs; therefore, at many of the schools we also offer a Licensed Childcare Program called Character Builders.
Please speak with the onsite YMCA Site Supervisor for more information.
DASH APPLICATION SUBMISSION PERIOD:
APRIL 25, 2025 – MAY 16, 2025
Any submissions after May 16, 2025 will automatically be placed on the waitlist.
APPLICATION RANKING
Enrollment Point System:
- FIRST PRIORITY enrollment will go to students who are identified by CVESD as unduplicated students at the time that they apply for enrollment or at any time during the school year. Unduplicated students are determined as either a Foster Youth, McKinney-Vento (Homeless) student, English Language Learner or a socioeconomically disadvantaged student.
- SECOND PRIORITY will be given to applications based on the date and time the DASH application was submitted.
Please allow until May 30 for results to be posted. We will post the 25/26 DASH results at your student’s school site and at the South Bay Family YMCA.
If your student gets selected to participate in DASH, you will receive an email of form(s) that need to be completed before receiving an official acceptance letter.
