YMCA Youth & Family Services provides therapy for children, teens, adults, couples, and families throughout San Diego County. We accept select insurance plans, offer virtual and in-person appointments, and make it easy for healthcare providers, schools, and community organizations to connect clients with mental health services.
For more than 50 years, healthcare providers, schools, community organizations, and families have trusted the Y as a partner in mental health and well-being. Our dedicated intake team helps simplify the referral process so individuals and families can access the care that’s right for them.

How do I refer a client to YMCA Youth & Family Services?
You can submit a referral online or contact our intake team directly. After receiving the referral, we reach out to the individual or family, verify insurance when applicable, and schedule an intake appointment.

What insurance plans do you accept?
YMCA Youth & Family Services currently accepts:
- Aetna
- Anthem Blue Cross
- Anthem Blue Shield
Self-pay and sliding-scale options may also be available.
How quickly do you respond to referrals?
Our intake team typically responds within 2 business days.
Do you offer virtual therapy?
Yes. We offer both virtual and in-person counseling throughout San Diego County.
Can schools refer students?
Yes. Schools, pediatricians, hospitals, behavioral health providers, social workers, community organizations, and other professionals regularly refer clients.
Do you accept Medi-Cal?
Currently, one of or school-based programs accepts medi-cal insurance for ages 5-21. We are working on expanding our Medi-cal services.
