2026 School Break Camps

CAMP INFORMATION

DATES: October 12 & November 11

Make the most of your day off school at Vacation Fun Days! Campers will enjoy a full day of games, sports, STEM, arts and crafts and team-building activities designed to spark creativity, build confidence and create new friendships. It’s a fun, active day at the Y filled with connection, discovery and plenty of camp spirit!

DATES: November 23-25 | December 21-23 | December 28-30

Designed especially for 4-year-olds currently enrolled in UTK, UTK Fun Days offer a playful and nurturing camp experience filled with age-appropriate games, arts and crafts, movement and beginner STEM activities. Campers will build confidence, make new friends and explore through hands-on fun in a safe and supportive environment.

Does your camper love to ask questions, explore new things and get a little messy along the way? Funster Icky Sticky Science Camp turns curiosity into hands-on fun as campers experiment with all things slimy, gooey, fizzy, sticky and wonderfully icky! Through age-appropriate science experiments, creative activities and group challenges, campers will explore how things work, build confidence, practice teamwork and make new friends. It’s the perfect camp for curious young scientists who are ready to learn, laugh and discover just how much fun science can be at the Y!

Flip, tumble and build confidence at Gymnastics Camp! Campers of all skill levels will practice tumbling, balance beam and creative movement in a fun, supportive environment. With daily gymnastics, games and arts and crafts, campers will stay active, make new friends and celebrate their progress along the way.

Celebrate the season with food, fun and friendship in Thanksgiving Cooking Camp! Campers will learn age-appropriate cooking skills while creating delicious holiday-inspired dishes, trying new recipes and building confidence in the kitchen. Along the way, they’ll practice teamwork, creativity and discover how cooking can bring people together. Dietary restrictions and food allergies can be accommodated when noted during registration.

Get ready to imagine, create and build! Campers will work together to design structures, gadgets and one-of-a-kind creations using a variety of building materials. Through hands-on challenges, campers will strengthen problem-solving skills, practice teamwork, build confidence and bring their big ideas to life!

Calling all builders and creators! Funster LEGO Fury Camp gives campers the chance to use their imagination as they build models, tackle creative challenges and bring their ideas to life with our collection of LEGOs. Through LEGO-themed games, crafts and friendly building contests, campers will practice teamwork, problem-solving and creativity while having tons of fun.

Celebrate the season with creativity, confidence and plenty of sweet treats in Holiday Cooking Camp! Campers will learn age-appropriate kitchen skills while making festive recipes, trying new flavors and creating treats they can share with family and friends. Dietary restrictions and food allergies can be accommodated when noted during registration.

Calling all animal lovers! Zoology Camp gives campers the chance to explore amazing animals, their habitats and the ecosystems they call home through hands-on activities, games and creative projects. Campers will build curiosity, appreciation for the natural world and a deeper understanding of wildlife — with special animal visits adding even more excitement along the way!

Put your creativity and teamwork to the test in Funster Fort Building Camp! Campers will work together to design and build forts while learning basic knots, building techniques and problem-solving skills. Through fun challenges and hands-on exploration, campers will build confidence, strengthen friendships and discover what they can accomplish as a team.

Calling all junior chefs! In Junior Cake Boss Camp, campers will learn the basics of baking and decorating a variety of sweet treats while expressing their creativity and building confidence in the kitchen. Campers will have plenty of hands-on fun, work alongside new friends and, of course, enjoy some of their delicious creations! Dietary restrictions and food allergies can be accommodated when noted during registration.

DATES: December 28-30

Lights, camera, LEGO! In LEGO Movie Making Camp, campers will use LEGO bricks and figures to create characters, sets and stories before bringing them to life through stop-motion animation. Along the way, campers will build creativity, practice teamwork and problem-solving, and gain confidence as they turn their ideas into their very own mini-movies.

Camp Hours: 8:00am–4:00pm

  • Drop-off: 8:00-9:00am
  • Pick-up: 3:00-4:00pm
  • Extended Camp Hours: 4:00-5:00pm

No additional cost(s) or registration required for extended pick-up/drop-off.

About Our Staff

Toby Wells YMCA takes pride in hiring the best people to fill our camp staff. Each camp leader was hand-selected through an extensive hiring process to ensure the safest environment for everyone. Staff training includes CPR and First Aid certification, transportation safety, behavior management and bully prevention, child protection and abuse prevention, field trip and off-site safety procedures, risk management/prevention and more.

PAYING FOR CAMP

At the time of registration, you may choose to:
  • Pay in full (includes a $60 non-refundable deposit). 
  • Place a $60 non-refundable deposit at the time of registration. Deposit discounts may apply based on membership type.
    • Note: any day camps less than three days will have no deposit and will require to be paid in full at time of registration.
  • For Summer sessions, balances will be due three weeks prior to the first day of camp.
    • For school break camps, balance dues will be one week before the camp date.
  • An active membership is required at the time of the program start date to receive the member pricing discount.

Deposits are non-refundable but can be immediately applied as a deposit for another camp if space is available or applied to an already existing camp balance within the same season. See our Refund/Voucher/Transfer Policies for more information.

UPDATED SAFETY GUIDELINES:

Your family’s safety is our top priority. We have implemented safety protocols that follow state and local guidelines. It’s our priority to help your children enjoy a safe and fun program that builds lasting friendships.

Medical Release Form - Required

In order to register, all campers must have a current medical release form updated and submitted to the YMCA. Medical release forms can be updated through your My Y account in our Community Portal.

Vendor Waivers

Some specialty camps, particularly those that travel to an off-site location, require an additional vendor waiver. Camps that require a waiver to be completed will be contacted and provided the waiver before the start of camp.

ADAPTIVE CAMP

Our Adaptive  Camp Program is a designed to support youth with behavioral and developmental needs as it adapts the camp experience to your child’s needs and abilities, allowing opportunities for all campers to learn new skills, form new friendships and create lifetime memories. Campers will participate in activities with our traditional and specialty camps based on their interests at a pace that works for them. Space is limited.

Camp Scholarships

Financial assistance is available through the Y’s ACCESS Financial Assistance program or through third party payment support.

Apply at ymcasd.org/access or pick up a confidential application at our front desk. We also accept third party payments from agencies such as CDA, CRS, KINSHIP and Cal-Works. To learn about or apply for state child care funding assistance, please visit childcaresandiego.com.

For every session of camp, the Y provides program scholarships for families seeking financial assistance. This is made possible through the generosity of our community. If you wish to help a child go to camp, please see our Camp Director for information.
