Like so many of our staff, my ‘summer job before college’ at the Y ended up being the start of a lifelong career path. I fell in love with Y’s impact in our community and decided to add an emphasis in nonprofit management to my degree. And, like so many of our staff, my path has been a winding one that includes operations, fundraising, camp, membership and marketing! The Y is family-focused, and being part of an organization that prioritizes healthy families is something I value greatly.

I’m inspired every day by the incredible people who are so dedicated to this YMCA. Hands down, our awesome staff is one of the best things about our Y. Team members tend to have a long tenure and know so many of our YMCA community members. No one is a stranger, and we miss you when you’re gone!

At Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA, each day, we get to make a meaningful difference in the lives of thousands, all while keeping the work dynamic and interesting. This Y has a rich history of impact in this community. Almost everyone has a Y story. It’s rare to find a longstanding community member whose life journey hasn’t included the Y in some way — preschool, swimming, walking club, skateboarding, gymnastics team, staff member and on and on. Decades of impact, and the bright future ahead, is what continues to inspire me!
