  • Did you know? On the coast of North County, off the Interstate 5 located in the Agua Hedionda Lagoon, the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA aquatic park is home to day camps and family fun. The aquatic park is available for day pass or weekend rentals, and now hosts two-hour kayak tours! You don't have to be a member to join in the fun!  Learn more here.

PERSONAL TRAINING SPECIAL

APRIL 1 - 30

If you've been thinking about hiring a personal trainer, April is a great month to get started! Through the month of April, you can get 5 one-on-one sessions for $249 or 10 for $479! That's up to $71 in savings!

Our personal trainers use their extensive knowledge of current exercise research concepts, methods of sound exercise principles and state-of-the-art equipment to guide you to your fitness goals. YMCA trainers are accredited through the National Commission of Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or have a degree in exercise science (or a related field). Based on your health and individual needs, our personal trainers will customize and implement a program to help you achieve your goals.

Members can purchase packages online — Click here to find packages by logging into your My Y account, select your branch and click "Personal Training Punch Pass" from the options. Please note that discounts will apply at checkout. You may also purchase in-person by visiting us at the branch! Once you've purchased a package, a branch fitness coach will contact you to discuss your goals and connect you with a trainer.

GROUP FITNESS CLASSES

LIVESTRONG

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA engages cancer survivors through an approach that focuses on the whole person — mind and body. Through this program participants work with trained Y staff to improve cardiovascular endurance and functional ability, build muscle mass and strength, and increase flexibility. In addition to physical benefits, the program also focuses on the mental and emotional well-being of survivors and their families. This creates a supportive community environment where people affected by cancer can connect during treatment and beyond. Get more information online here.

MASTERS SWIM

Looking for a new fitness challenge or just want to improve your stroke? The Masters swim team at the Ecke Y practices are held in our 11-lane, Anne and Edward Woolley Competition pool. Spots are limited to 44 swimmers each month. Those currently enrolled will receive priority registration to register for the next month. Get ready to kick off an unforgettable summer at the Y with our exciting new program! Dive into the dynamic game of kickball, where athleticism meets camaraderie in a game reminiscent of baseball and soccer. Stay active, socialize and soak up the summer sun playing this recreational sport on a field with a stunning ocean view. Whether you're a seasoned pro or new to the game, there's a place for you in our inclusive and welcoming environment!

CHESS CLUB

YOUTH SPORTS

Come out and play at the Y! Registration is open now for all lessons, clinics and leagues for ages 3 to 14. Sign up now for:

  • Play in a recreational youth league! Leagues are a great way to get in the game and make new friendships on and off the field. Registration remains open until teams are full. Leagues are available for  - Register today!

Welcome to the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA's After School Recreation program serving St. James Academy students from TK to Grade 8.

Our YMCA Recreation Program is a way to ensure your child is in a safe, fun, and caring environment after school. Each day includes new curriculum or activities to help participants learn, build life skills, and develop healthy relationships — including healthy snacks, sports and games, art and music, tutoring, and more!

KAYAK TOURS: STAR WARS EDITION!

May the 4th be with you! Whether you are for the Jedi or the Dark Side, all are invited to our Star Wars-themed kayak tour on Saturday, May 4 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Join us as we paddle through the marshlands of our very own Dagobah: Aqua Hedionda Lagoon! Kayak tours will be two-hours, filled with Star Wars music and exciting stories of lore. All are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Star Wars character or wear something Star Wars related!

SKATE PARK

The world-famous Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA Skate Park is one of the biggest and most diverse in San Diego County. Our open skate sessions are a great way to enjoy the park daily! Great for ages 6 and up. Check out session times and prices. And the skatepark is now hosting birthday parties! For more information on anything skatepark, contact Mike Wilson at [email protected].

  • Transportation to the skate park: Need your skater picked up from school? We can help with that! The YMCA bus will pick your child up from school and safely transport them to the skate park where they will be supervised by our amazing skate park staff. Once at the skate park, there will be a snack, skate tips and free skate! Program offered at: Capri Elementary School, Ocean Knoll Elementary, Park Dale Lane Elementary and Paul Ecke Central Elementary School Times: school dismissal to 6:00pm. Learn more.
  • Skate classes: Classes take place on weekdays, Mondays-Fridays, 11:00am-1:00pm, for amateur skaters who want to connect and improve their skills. Fee: $34 members | $45 participants. - Register today

MARTIAL ARTS

ADVENTURE CLUBS

Adventure Clubs offer a unique experience for parents and their children to enjoy outdoor weekend camping experiences at some of the best camping spots in Southern California! The monthly campouts will take you to deserts, mountains and beaches. Your weekends will include many fun activities such as hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, campfire skits, songs, pinewood derby races, crafts, bead trading, event patches and more. Learn more!

MAHJONG

Let's play mahjong! Our new mahjong group is now starting. We are playing this exciting game on Fridays, 9:30–11:30am. Free for members!

ORIGAMI

Our fun and engaging origami workshops with Walter are held each Wednesday from 11:00am–12:00pm.

RARE BEARS SEWING CLUB

The Rare Bears Sewing Club sews and finishes stuffed bears for children with rare diseases. Meets every fourth Tuesday from 10:00am–12:00pm. No experience necessary! For information, contact Brian Wagner, [email protected].

BOOK CLUB

FOR WOMEN

Do you enjoy reading and like to share your thoughts with others? Join us for our newly formed YAA Women's Book Club for Y members! You will gain various perspectives, learn and be exposed to many different types of books while meeting new people and exercising your mental aptitude.

The book club meets on the second Thursday of the month from 6:00–7:30pm in Conference Room C. No registration is required. We will read the following award-winning selections on their respective dates:

WALKING CLUB

Our Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA Walking Club meets twice weekly at 8:00am on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Members can sign in at the lobby before gathering outside in front of the Y.  The route varies each week, and we have a light and non-light group!

Did you know you could help save up to three lives by giving blood?
