Move BetTer, Feel Stronger – Try LES MILLS THRIVE at Your YMCA

Feel fit, strong, and in control – no matter where you’re starting from.

Les Mills THRIVE is a 45-minute, low-impact session designed to boost your lower body and core strength, improve flexibility and increase balance. You’ll move at your own pace in a welcoming, supportive environment that’s perfect for all fitness levels.

DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM

We have partnered with The Skinny Gene Project to provide an evidence-based lifestyle change program for preventing type 2 diabetes. Diabetes Prevention is a 12-month, small-group program that helps participants make lifestyle changes such as eating healthier, including physical activity in their daily lives, and improving problem-solving and coping skills.

Program Overview:

  • 12-month small-group program.
  • Weekly sessions for months 1-6.
  • Monthly sessions for months 7-12.
  • All sessions are 60 minutes and lead by a trained lifestyle coach.

The YMCA offers financial aid through our ACCESS Scholarship to help individuals connect to the programs that are important.

INBODY ASSESSMENTS

InBody body-composition assessments are available by appointment. Get a detailed breakdown of your lean tissue, water and fat mass in just 30 minutes Now you can leave the guessing behind and know exactly what is inside your body! See a coach or trainer to get signed up.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS ORIENTATION

Meet with a wellness coach to get acquainted with equipment and classes, ask questions and chart a path to reach your goals. Schedule your 30-minute orientation at the Welcome Center! Learn more.

YMCA Camp Surf offers a unique and versatile venue for your next event, whether it’s a corporate gathering, group retreat or an unforgettable wedding. Nestled by the stunning Pacific Ocean, we provide tailored programming and expansive facilities for groups of all sizes, including the McKinney Oceanfront Center, which accommodates over 200 guests, along with custom-designed experiences to fit your needs.

SCOUTS AT CAMP SURF

Camp Surf offers a fun-filled weekend just for troops—featuring a two-night stay in cabins or beach campsites, four tasty meals and nonstop adventure. Enjoy hands-on badge activities, a safe and supportive camp staff and a beautiful beachfront setting. Best part? Refer another troop, and both leaders attend for free! Learn more here. 

CHILD WATCH

Y Community Plus members with family memberships have unlimited access to Child Watch services at 12 YMCA branch locations across San Diego County. With easy reservations through the YMCA app, you can focus on your fitness or unwind at the Y while your children play under the supervision of highly trained YMCA staff. Not yet a Y Community Plus member? Current Y members can upgrade to the Y Community Plus membership plan by stopping by any location. If you currently have Child Watch services as an add-on to your family membership, you may continue to use Child Watch services on a drop-in basis. Learn more here.

SWIM PROGAM UPDATES:

  • Private swim lessons: OPEN private swim lesson time slots, available Monday-Sunday. – Register today!
  • Swim team: Our swim team is practicing regularly! If your child would like to get involved, swimmers should be proficient in 100 yards freestyle with rotary breathing, 100-200 IM based on ability, 25-50 yards butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. Learn more about swim teams at the Y
  • Parent/Child Swim Lessons on Saturdays & SundaysInfants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun and confidence-building experiences, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision.
  • Family Swim: We will have family swim/open swim in the instructional pool Monday – Thursday from 3:00pm-7:30pm. The main pool will have two lap lanes available for family swim patrons, but the three other lanes and the rest of the pool will be reserved for aquatic programming. However, the main pool will be available all day on Fridays for family swim. 
    • Great news!  We have space in our competition pool shallow end for open swim Monday-Sunday.

INCLUSION AIDS

Inclusion aids provide one-on-one attention to kids with diverse abilities so they can safely participate in a group swim lesson. Inclusion aids are available to swim lesson participants at no cost by request only, on a first-come, first-served basis, as supplies are limited. Young athletes will to take their game to the next level as they grow both on and off the field. Come out and play with the following sports options:

PEEWEE LESSONS

Sign up now for winter peewee sports lessons for ages 3-5.  New sessions start monthly through March 2025. – Register today!

  • T-ball: Tuesdays, 5-6pm
  • Soccer: Saturdays, 9:30-10:30am
YOUTH SPORTS

Registration is open now for winter youth sports clinics and leagues for ages 6-11. – Register today!

  • Hitting and fielding clinics for ages 6-12.
  • Monthly sessions on Thursdays, 5-6pm, starting January 9 at Otey Ranch High School.

Soccer clinics

  • Dribbling and footwork clinics for ages 6-12.
  • Monthly sessions on Saturdays, 10:30-11:30am, starting January 4.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES!

Birthday parties are back! Celebrate your day with a splash at the YMCA! We are now offering pool OR sports birthday parties! Reserve your two hour time slot for Saturday, 10:30am – 12:30pm, for an hour of birthday-party-people-only swim or sports in the instructional pool followed by an hour of party time and birthday singing on our pool deck. Birthday party participants for swim birthdays will have access to the NEWLY working splash pad for the party’s duration! Sports parties will enjoy an engaging, fun play time instructed by YMCA staff. (Please note swim and sports are two separate birthday party options.) – Reserve your party online today!

VELOCITY: PERFORMANCE TRAINING

Velocity at the YMCA provides a safe and structured sports development program for teens. Athletes will participate in fun, engagin sports performance training as well as weekly nutrition lessons to ensure maximum potential development. Through Velocity at the Y, young athletes will have the opportunity to learn about nutrition and healthy living, build community and enhance their athletic performance to improve their overall well-being in spirit, mind and body. — Register today!

The San Diego County Centralized Eligibility List (CEL) is one application that connects you to different agencies across San Diego to help pay for child care for families who qualify.
