PARKING LOT IMPACT

Beginning on June 9th, the Dan McKinney Family YMCA will be limited to 160 parking spots until August 26, 2023. We understand the inconvenience this may have on families and individuals while visiting the YMCA and we appreciate your cooperation. As we move forward together, we plan to reopen the parking lot back to its maximum capacity on Saturday, August 26, 2023

* Please note that there is additional street parking on Scenic Place, La Jolla Scenic Way and Via Posada.

SUMMER CAMP IMPACT

We are excited to welcome 500 summer camp kids into our facility for nine weeks! Due to Summer Camp, there will be increased traffic and potential parking challenges at our facility during specified times. We anticipate higher volumes of vehicles due to drop off and pick up times, resulting in impacted traffic flow and limited parking spaces. We kindly ask for your cooperation and understanding during this period as we strive to manage the situation effectively.

Duration: June 19 through August 18, 2023

Peak Traffic Hours:

  • Morning Drop Off: 8:00am to 9:00am
  • Afternoon Pick Up: 3:00pm to 4:00pm
  • Extended Pick Up: 4:00pm to 5:30pm

To ensure a smoother experience for everyone, we suggest considering the following:

  1. Plan your visits accordingly: If possible, try to schedule your Y visits outside of the peak hours mentioned above.
  2. Arrive early or allow extra time: We recommend arriving a bit earlier or allowing extra time to find parking and reach your destination comfortably.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our front desk or contact us via phone or email. Thank you for being a valued member of the Dan McKinney Family YMCA, and we look forward to serving you during the summer months!

EXCITING IMPROVEMENTS TO OUR GYMNASIUM

April 20, 2023

We are thrilled to share that needed repairs and improvements to our gymnasium will begin on April 24, 2023. As a result of these upgrades, both youth and adult sports programs will resume, and we will extend our offerings for gymnastics. We expect the project to be ongoing through November 2023. During this period, there may be limited parking, redirection of members and increased noise levels throughout the facility.

The primary purpose of this project is to address a water drainage issue around the subterranean structure of the gymnasium. There will also be work done in the center courtyard to modify the drains and surface. Through the reconstruction, the gymnasium area will be transformed into a new gymnastics center, while the current gymnastics center will be renovated into a sports gymnasium. The sports gymnasium will feature a new wood floor surface and a court designed for basketball, volleyball, pickleball and futsal.

While unforeseen challenges may arise during this major construction project, we are confident that we can minimize the disruption to your member experience for the duration. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this critical upgrade to our facility.

Thank you for being a member. We will continue to provide the top-quality staff, facilities and programming you expect from your YMCA. Please opt-in for text alerts for project updates that may affect your visit to the Y.
